Clay

For the last 2 weeks we have been working on clay constructions as part of art and also to link in with the Maths eyes project we are involved in. Some of our pieces will be used in our display in Corkagh Park in 2 weeks time.

First we made our 3D object using clay, then we left it to dry for a few days. This week we painted them and wrote a little about the project.

We Won!!!!!!!!!

Finally we have won the Golden Boot Award for having the highest number of people in our class who walked to school on Wednesday. Thanks to all the Mums and Dads who walked with us. We hope we can keep up the high numbers and win it again.

Ceilí agus Ceolchoirm

On Friday the 14th March we had our annual Céilí. We all wore green and spent the morning dancing in the hall. Third and Forth class learnt the Siege of Ennis for the Céilí. It took us a while to learn the steps but we got it in the end! Some students did solo dances. They were all fantastic. Thank you to everyone who sponsored us for this day.

On Thursday 20th March we had a Ceolchoirm as part of  Seachtain na Gaeilge. All the classes prepared a song as Gaeilge and performed it for the school. It was brilliant! Our class performed our own version  of Avicii Wake me Up. Thank you to all the Mums and Dads who listened to us practising for the last few weeks. The words were tricky but we learned them and were able to perform without and lyric sheets in front of us.

Here are a few pictures of some classes performing.

Thank you Catherine!

Last week was our last music lesson with Catherine. Our class were so lucky to get 12 weeks of music this year. We really enjoyed it. Thank you so much Catherine! We will miss you on a Wednesday.

For our last lesson we learned about Swing music and dance. It was so much fun! We had a great time dancing around the classroom.

Drumming workshop

On Thursday the 6th March we had a drumming workshop in the hall. It was great fun. We all had a different type of drum and after a few minutes we moved seats and got to try a new drum. We swapped several times during our workshop. Part of playing the drums is about listening to the other people playing with you. To practise this skill we played a game where we all had a beat to follow and every few minutes a different person got a chance to solo. If we did not watch the others and listen carefully we did not all play in time.
It was really good. We were quite good at it!

The Little Museum

On the 28th February we went on a trip to The Little Museum with 4th class. It was really interesting. Kim and Niall showed us around and explained all the different rooms. There was the back room which was covered ceiling to floor in old pictures and artefacts , the front room which had pictures of important people from the War of Independence and the U2 room which had anything you could possibly want to know about Ireland's most famous band.
After the museum we had our lunch in St Stephens Green and went to the playground for a while.

It was a really fun day out! Thanks to Dublin Bus who brought us into town on a lovely double-decker bus.
